Last year I said I'd kill 100 if 3 survived. I have 3 green stalks. No buds yet. The rest look like straw. Seems alarmingly precise about now. at least I have another 10-15 in the green house room that didn't get planted to send to their doom this year.
Mayhaw, looked like a graft was dead but now I'm seeing buds.
Lactose intolerant GF will probably get a new vanilla ice cream as it looks like I finally have flower buds on both akebia.
So far both Ken's red kiwi's look dead. Chang Bai and male are raging.
Grafted the cherry. Will take at least a month to see if they take.
5 more grafts to put into my little brother's frankenapple. A salute to Queener Farms. I will miss them. I hope your retirement goes well. I'd buy your property if I was near and rich.
Peach will need at least another year before grafting begins.
Red dragons will show up weds and take some of the space left by the 100 dead oranges.
Everyone is sold out of Dead Man's fingers. Maybe try a Honey Jar Jujube in that space?
The poor fig? I shouldn't see a sprout until mid June at the earliest. I should dig it up and ship to TX, what I'm doing is cruel.
The Maypops showed up in Aug last year when I was positive they were dead. no idea if they will pop earlier. I hope they start earlier and prosper.
Looks like heavy losses in the neglected strawberries.
Haskaps are again raging at the world. this year we put nets below them and harvest the berries when they drop. Seriously, let them be ripe for 2 months and they are amazing.
Rhubarb is coming to life.
Blackberries. 2 "dead" ones need to be dug and moved next to their friends.
a Seaberry went rogue. They are buck thorns, we accepted the risks. Now what to do. This is from rootstock not the graft. Full graft? dig and burn?
2 seaberries died. This is a point, of personal pride for a plant whose planting directions are "Plant directly in hell". "You said they are unkillable? Watch me not check soil PH!".. Worst action movie ever.
The grapes are already looking threatening.
Bad losses on half the raspberries. Double golds have 1 left. the others are fine.
Blackberries are doing alarmingly well.
I think both pawpaw are now dead. after last winter's protected performance I let the go unprotected last winter. Now if they are dead what to replace them with?
Blue berries are alive.. aside from one.. hit them with sulfur after PH check explained why they were failing year after year.
Elderberries are beginning to throw up shoots.
Yellowhorns.. another year of hoping.
Currants are being currants.
Mulberry needs to take 2 grafts. Spouse thinks a thunderstorm might kill me. .. silly spouse. Grafts are more important.
Schisandra seems to have awoken angry, probably due to rumors about what happened to the last 2 Schisandra.
Blue berries are having a rough time due to me not checking PH. slammed with sulfur last fall. lets hope thing go well.
