Period Rule - Emotions vs Flow

Hi everyone! I am 27F and I am not on hormonal contraception, which is just to say that whatever I am going to describe can't be linked to pill & co.

In the last couple of years, I have started noticing that whenever I get an emotionally intense period, my flow tends to be lighter with very limited physical discomfort. In turn, when my flow is heavier, I get cramps and back pain but I am spared the emotionally rollercoaster of tears and anxiety that can come with it.

I have now observed this enough times to be quite sure that there is a connection but haven't brought my question to a healthcare professional because I have found them quite dismissive of women's experiences in the past. So, I ask you. Have you ever observed anything similar and/or do you have any idea why I might be experiencing this?
