Is my Physician Assistant going rogue?
Post Body

(Rogue may be a little hyperbole.)

I usually frequent the tirzepatide subs, but thought Iā€™d post here instead. Last Friday I had my six month checkup with my PA, and the conversation was different.

Backstory, Iā€™ve been going to my PCP for 5 years and really like him because heā€™s been honest and has really helped me getting my blood results in ā€œnormalā€ ranges. But heā€™s getting really old and has recently passed me off to his PA.

Peptide talk So after we were done with the small chit chat he asked me how tirzepatide has been working for me. He originally prescribed Zepbound, but Iā€™m pretty sure he knew my insurance wouldnā€™t cover it. And he didnā€™t entertain the idea of going through the prior authorization process. He was quick to introduce me to a compounding pharmacy in town.

During my appointment he asked me if i knew what a peptide was, and I said no. To make a long story short, he tells me he's asking a few of his patients if they would like to work with him outside of the office with another compounding pharmacy he knows. He asked for my email and said, not to worry this won't be a conflict of interest since I'll still be writing the prescription. (Thought that was a little odd that he randomly brought up "conflict of interest.")

So I'm posting here for maybe some guidance or insight before I go down the rabbit hole (and I love a good hole, but don't want to waste my time)... I don't know what I don't know. The little googling I've done about peptides i can see there are a ton of health benefits. I'm 41 yo, overweight, high blood pressure (that's gradually coming down over the past year), and no aches or pains.

Fany anyone else that goes through their doctor for peptides, what's the experience like? Any suggestions/opinions are welcome. TYIA
