My 11 year old male cat started peeing outside his box a year ago. In January he was diagnosed with diabetes. We've treated him with insulin ever since. He's had 3 UTIs in that time. I'm reaching a breaking point because he will poop in his cat box but pees on the wall, in the same spot, several times a day. I've been going to Safe Harbor and while they're amazing, nothing they've done has helped me stop the cat from urinating outside the litter box.
Some more context: he was my dad's cat and my dad died 2 years ago. That was hard on him. A year ago my dog had major surgery and was bound to a cage for several months. He really hated that and around that time is when he began spraying outside the box, leading to the diabetes diagnosis.
Is there like a "cat whisperer" in town who can help me figure out what is going on with my 11 year old buddy? I'm reaching the point where I'm considering putting him down but really don't want to. Who in town can help?
