Hello Everyone,
My family and I are traveling from NYC to Schuylkill County this weekend to go to the Vraj Mandir (Not sure if many are aware). Since we will be staying overnight in the temple premises, I was wondering if anyone knew of any other things to do in the area for Sunday.
Thank you!
EDIT :
Hello everyone, thank you all for your replies. I just wanted to let you know what we ended up doing in case someone comes across this post in the future. We left on Saturday morning and made it to Shady Maple Smorgasbord at lunch time. I had heard of the place and seen many reviews on YouTube. Since it was about an hour south of the Vraj Mandir, we decided to take a trip there. We enjoyed the Salad bar, but since many of the offerings were geared towards beef, we could not eat many things. However, the dessert offerings themselves make it worth a visit. Then we went to the temple and spent Saturday there.
On Sunday, we spent the morning at the temple and then left around 9:30 AM. We drove 40 minutes north to Pioneer Tunnel Coal Mine and Steam Train. I think this was the highlight of our trip. We went 400 feet into a coal mine and were able to learn its history and see real coal deposits with a tour guide. We then had a quick lunch and went to the Balaji Temple in Bridgewater NJ, which was on the way to NYC and a 1.5 hour drive from the Coal Mine.
Then, we drove back to NYC and had dinner, and now I have just gotten home about an hour ago. I wish we could have seen more things but we were pretty pressed for time considering my dad had to work on Monday. Overall it was a good trip, it's crazy how different rural PA is from NYC, despite being just 3 hours or so away by car!
For a relaxed sunday, you might enjoy a visit to Sweet Arrow Lake County Park. Itβs a beautiful spot for a picnic, fishing, or just a leisurely walk
