I was trying to figure out what Rob meant by
"Hold the line, don't forget - taking arms is taking heads."
Reading it literally, it seems to be saying taking up weapons in war will only result in death.
But... I don't think that's it. The theme of the song has seemingly been changed to being about the pandemic given the music video and additional lyrics, and the war being referred to in the song is likely about just that.
"Hold the line, don't forget - taking arms is taking heads."
Maybe I'm just slow, but it just sort of dawned on me what this means in keeping in line with the song's message. It's so simple. It just seems deep.
Hold the line - Keep quarantining. Keep wearing masks. Keep distancing.
don't forget, taking arms is taking heads - during the pandemic, literally taking arms is killing people. As in, people who couldn't wait to get their haircut, or to party with their friends - being in close contact with people because of impatience is literally killing people. Taking arms is taking heads.
To take it just one step further, the very beginning of the video opens with a rabbit grabbing another rabbit's arm, and immediately spreading the virus to them.
This is probably pretty stupid, so if it is, sorry. But I was just listening to the song again when it hit me that it really isn't that deep, Rob is being quite literal with his messaging.
