Bout to start my pelvic floor therapy/treatment journey… I really hope this helps bc the issues are compounding.

32F here. I’ve been dealing with non stop issues since I got my tubes removed and an ablation in Nov 2021, but even before then, I’ve always had a lot of pelvic infections and pain. My periods have always been awful and I haven’t fully ruled out endo as a contributor to my chronic pain (I also have hEDS, osteoarthritis, POTS, GI issues etc). But since I had the tubal, I’ve had a stark increase in incontinence, urgency, infections, air gettin caught in my vagina which just feels so uncomfortable and it happens all day long, etc.

The urogynecologist I saw did an exam and said that my left side pelvic muscles are essentially locked up very tightly. Clenching nonstop. Which tracks, bc my chiro is constantly having to adjust my sacrum esp the left side, and my hips pop in and out literally all day long (but my left side doesn’t want to pop as much even though it feels like it needs to in order to “go back” to normal). Also, my hips on the outside are so damn sensitive to the touch. My cat tried to walk on my hip the other day while i was laying down, and I nearly slung him across the room from kicking so hard due to the shock of pain. The left side is also the side I’ve had my first 4 knee surgeries on (versus 2 on my right later on) so I know I’ve compensated heavily for a decade and my wonky walkin hasn’t helped.

I guess I’m partially worried that I’m gonna go spending loads of money on this and it won’t work. When I tell you i spend soooooo much on healthcare… I’m not kidding. I pay OOP for certain specialty things for my EDS and pay out the wazoo on copays generally. So if I’m gonna drop even more $$$$, I hope it helps. PT hasn’t helped my shoulder issue much (also left side, and sometimes nearly debilitating pain for someone who is used to pain) so I worry that will affect things too if body parts on my left side stay injured/not feeling right.

Anyways, my right side pelvic muscles are also tight but nowhere near as bad as the left. I gotta make an appt still with the place my doc referred me. Is there anything else y’all can recommend I start doing at home? I can feel myself clenching my but cheeks almost all the time unless I’m laying down, it’s like my entire pelvic/butt area is constantly tensed up and will not stop. How do I get my muscles to CHILL?
