54 year old female, post menopausal, two vaginal births and two abdominal surgeries (one laprascopic) to remove ovarian cysts, second surgery also had left ovary and both fallopian tubes removed. I have some degree of pelvic prolapse, doctor said it is not too bad, but started having extreme pelvic pain in December as I ramped up my workout routine to include heavier weights. Have been going to pelvic floor therapy since February but I feel (and my therapist feels) I am just not "getting" it. I just cannot consistently engage my pelvic floor regularly. Doing the assigned exercises seems pointless as I have no idea if what I am doing is helping. I have looked into those devices that will automatically trigger the pelvic floor to engage. Has anyone used? Do I try a different therapist? Not sure what to do at this point. Kegel weights seem to cause irritation and it is nearly impossible to keep them in. My pelvis is also tipped somehow the wrong way.
