Trigger Points and TENS, EMS, and IF

Last week I bought an inexpensive but quality TENS device. In addition to TENS, it has modes for EMS (Electrical Muscle Stimulation), IF (Interferential Current), and Microcurrent. I've been using TENS, EMS, and IF and the results have been very encouraging, even remarkable. After only five days of use the muscles of my groin and pelvic area are feeling much less strained. I started with low settings for brief periods and have been increasing the intensity and duration of the treatments. I put the pads on or around trigger points and those areas are feeling much better and sometimes I can even feel the trigger points relaxing and releasing.

The tightness and strain of my pelvic area, especially my rectum and the area where my thighs join my groin, became so bad a few months ago that I could barely urinate and ended up having to wear a catheter bag, which I've had for about a month. I couldn't do any of my regular stretches without exacerbating the problems. As I say, I'm feeling much better now using the TENS and other therapies. I see my urologist in about a month and am confident that by then I will be able to do without the bag. I also plan to start doing my stretches again soon.

I'm certainly no expert, but based on my experiences so far, I would strongly suggest anyone with PFD issues consider talking to their doctor about TENS, EMS, and IF. Do some googling and research on the therapies and various devices to make sure you get what you need.
