Went to a UMass pelvic floor PT. Her personality was extremely cold. The internal vaginal exam did reveal I have tightness in my piriformis. All she could tell me though was that I had a tight pelvic floor, not to do squats or lunges, and that patients begin with 1 hr sessions each week for 8 weeks. I already suspected a tight pelvic floor because of constipation and pelvic/pubic bone pain.
She legit wasn't going to give me anything to do at home until I asked what kind of stretching and exercises I could do. Basically all I got was the #4 stretch and hip flexor stretching. No breathing exercises. No pelvic floor relaxation techniques. Diddly squat.
None of that seems right? I read so many people here getting such high quality care.
The cherry on the Sunday was she was also a bit dismissive of my symptoms as IBS. My main symptom is constipation or slow motility. I've been working my tail off to get in with a motility doctor, ruling out Endo, and trying to do anorectal manometry but my current GI is condescending and dismissive. The Endo specialist is going to send me to PT anyway to rule out other causes of pelvic pain so I might as well do it now. All imaging and scans came back normal so a lot has been ruled out.
It's a bit irritating how many medical professionals think an IBS diagnosis means anything when most doctors just use it as a scapegoat for not finding your root cause.
I won't be going back to her or that practice but does that sound right to y'all?
