Hello, I'm going to see a cardiac surgeon tomorrow to discuss potentially what and when to do with my pectus. I believe mine is quite severe (don't know my Haller index, but got a ct scan done recently so hopefully I'll know soon), I had some questions about the surgery, such as; how long does pain last? When will I be able to go back to work (I work in retail but sometimes have to lift and reach up high) and drive? Also my main concern, this might seem really stupid, but do I have to get a catheter put in? I really would like to avoid having it as it just makes me feel uncomfortable thinking about it. Thanks for any response.
Edit: I'm also a student pilot, so how long would I be out of the flying? I do an integrated course so getting my hours up is crucial to finishing, surely I'd be able to fly after a few weeks as it doesn't really take to much physical effort regarding the chest.
