I’m 23M and I had the nuss bar procedure done 3 years ago and just recently had the 2 bars removed two weeks ago!
2020 I decided to get the procedure done because I wanted to feel better as the chest was starting to hurt me. So I went to see my doctor and he granted me special admission (he was following my case since I was 4) as I was an adult going to the Shriners hospital for kids. My surgery was the first of its kind in Canada as they did three incisions and used a crane type device to lift my chest to insert the two nuss bars. (Pics to follow)
Lots of pain for the first 3 months than I was back to playing hockey (goalie) and working a less demanding job at the time.
2023 comes and I’ve already been to 3 consultants before hand about my progress and the eventual conversation of when do I want to remove them comes up and I without hesitation agree to get them out !
We’re July 5th now and I’m two weeks post op bar removal and feeling great !
I know it can be a scary though to have it fixed as you see all the discussion about pain and the bar not actually doing anything but I’m here to let you know it’s worth every bit of pain !!
I know the type of world you guys are living in and I feel for you, so please don’t hesitate to ask me anything I’m more than willing to answer :)
