My computer won’t boot. It only turns on after I unseat the cmos battery and let the power dissipate. I’m near the end of my warranty for both my mb and cpu. I have an msi tomahawk x570s with a ryzen 5900x.
Ive swapped power supplies and confirmed they both are functioning just fine. They are 1000watt and the other one is even higher wattage.
I removed the cpu and the motherboard will turn on/off like normal - meaning the power button can be used to power it on/off by pressing to turn on and holding to turn off. The motherboard EZ LED for the CPU always lights red and won’t change no matter what
When the cpu is installed it will not turn off until I unplug the cord or flip the main power switch on the psu. And that’s only possible after draining power and clearing cmos to make it power on.
I’m fairly certain it’s not the other components because they don’t affect the behavior whether they’re installed or not.
Does it make sense to buy another CPU to test if the mb is bad? Or vice versa? I’m pretty much out of options at the point. What’s a cheap cpu I could throw on?
