This is an emachines T2984 from 2004. Is there even a possibility of finding parts for this dinosaur anymore? It has the original carnivores on it, as well as a lot of family photos my grandmother would like salvaged if possible. I can't tell you what the problem is, as this is the first time I've ever even seen inside a pc, but it seems to be something with the booting itself. It will load the first load up screen for around 2 or so seconds before the image dies like the cpu or something just conks itself. It still has power after the blackout and I've tried a monitor I know works on it with no change in outcome. It worked around a year ago when my nephews were using it to play carnivores, but they fell asleep with it on and it hasn't worked since. I'm gonna be completely honest, I have no idea what I'm looking at when I stare into this thing. I would take it to a repair shop if all the shops around me wouldn't pretend to try and repair it for 3 months so they can charge me 800$ for "labor". Me thinks maybe the cpu is burnt, but I have no idea. And no, it's never been serviced or repaired or maintenanced in the 20 years my grandma has owned it, so the thermal paste is probably a ghost at this point.
