Is this cable broke?

Working on assembling my new computer; third one I've built so far.
Not seen these usb c connectors before, and had trouble plugging it in. Then I noticed what looks like a big dent on one side, and, I not sure if it's supposed to be there or not?
Also, if it is not broke, how is the cable supposed to go in? Does orientation matter on this header?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
