Upgraded the hardware in attempts to future proof a little.

Now will crash or GPU will crash. (Monitor loses signal from GPU output, rest of PC still runs/audio output present) when I try certain things in games or trying to run SteamVR. Any ideas? I've done most of the common troubleshooting (try different port on GPU, ensure software updates on graphics/OS are updated, ...)

Hardware:

Ryzen 9 7950x (basic air cooling fan attached)

RTX 3090 Ti

SMG-1200w PSU (80 Gold rated)

2x32GB G.SKill Memory

X670E Mobo.

Data points:

  • Heaven Benchmark Score: 1510 (screenshot of details)
  • MSI Afterburner: GPU heat = 55-62 Celsius. (thats kinda hot)
  • ... idk what else to give.

Triggers for GPU/PC crashes:

Icarus:

  • DLSS will crash GPU.
  • Can't enable ray tracing settings. (darkened out; not possible to toggle on/off)

SteamVR:

  • Barely get through to Oculus Link, now on 5th attempt am able to get into NMS for 10-30sec before GPU crash.

Jurassic World Evolution 2:

  • GPU crash with highest settings.

Separate issue, but maybe an easy answer for those who read this:

  • After explicitly setting PhysX to my GPU, I run Icarus and it immediately says PhysX = CPU. Is this just a CPU-driven game then? I'm still learning and this is something I dont quite understand.

To anyone who has read this, thank you! And to those who are able to give insight, thank you too!
