Hi all, just looking for some advice on if I should upgrade my CPU or not and which direction I should go. So context, I built my gaming pc last august my specs are: 12400f, 3080 12gb, 32gb ddr4, mobo is b660 I'm considering upgrading the cpu to 14th gen, probably a 14600k. I realise with a b660 board and ddr4 I'm not getting the full potential of this cpu, but I only game on this pc so I'm hoping it would give me an uplift.
The reason I'm looking into the upgrading is some newer games are getting pretty cpu intensive and my 12400f is really good, but sometimes is holding back the 3080, but I'll say only at very specific times in certain games and is not really affecting my gaming experience yet, but will it in the future is the question. Also an option is go am5 with new board and ram, but that's alot more expensive and not sure worth it. Or my last option is do nothing and upgrade ram, cpu and board later on when they much bigger improvement over my current set up. Any thoughts and opinions welcome.
