Would it be Worth it to build at this point?

Am curious on what I should Do here. I have a pre built already but am interested in possibly doing a build. I have about 2500 to spend for a build and Would let the wife Use the prebuilt. Or would it be more effective to just buy Upgrades for the pre built and share it for gaming, schooling etc.
