Hey everyone, so im planning on building a new gaming computer that is going to last me at least 4 year that is capable of running the latest gaming at 4K with ideally the highest graphics settings as well as 60FPS , I have no interest in VR or Ray Tracing so this isnt something im factoring in at all as I know Nvidia are best for that. I also do a bit of YouTube video making and some basic 3D modelling from time to time.
Ive been looking online over the last few days at bench marking and reviews of both the RTX 4080 and AMD RX 7900 XTX. Generally things ive seen is the AMD card is putting out the same level of performance in games as the 4080 for £350 less.
Im also aware that Nvidia has gotten alot of hate for the 4080 card being over priced for what you're getting as the 7900 XTX has 24GB VRAM compared 16GB on the 4080. Ive read that you need a high amount of VRAM for 4K gaming at high settings.
From just that you would think just go with AMD but Ive also seen stuff about the AMD card being more power hungry because of the drivers not being optimized but I dont know if this is just people hating on AMD for fun.
Budget wise I was looking to spend around £1750 originally but Ive decided on making the jump to 4k now as I was going to go with the 3080 so jumping up to £2000 ish but im curious what everyone thinks of the cards in general.
Ive never used AMD before as Ive always been Nvidia for 10 years and never had an issue so what is everyone's thoughts on which card is best for me and my requirements ???
The current specs that ive got so far are the following:
CPU: Intel i7 13700k
Motherboard: Asus Prime Z790
RAM: DDR5 Corsair 32GB RAM 6200 Mhz
PSU: 1000w
All parts are going to be purchased within the UK.
