Belichick probably will retire before getting 97 more wins to pass Shula on most career wins as HC (including postseason). However, if you count team wins while being an defensive/offensive coordinator or assistant head coach, then Belichick is only 22 wins away from Shula's record of most wins as a HC, Assistant HC, defensive or offensive coordinator.
Here's the stats for career wins as Head Coach, Assistant Head Coach, Defensive Coordinator, Offensive Coordinator.
