Blink on a moving ship

My players live on a sailing ship, and recently adopted a blink dog. What I’m wondering is how will the constant blink effect come into play while on the ship, especially while moving? Is there a constant risk the dog will phase through the ship and get left behind, should they have to ward the ship against teleportation, etc?
It’s not a highly intelligent blink dog, so there is no guarantee it would know to blink back into the ship should it get left behind.
