What's the best base class for 10 levels into Hellknight? (Core)

I've been reading some stuff about Hellknight and it seems people seem to be ok the opinion that is an average class, not the worst but neither the best.
What class would you recommend me to go before I reach the archetype? I was thinking about Armige (fits thematically)but losing the bonus feats from Fighter sounds very painful. Is it really worth it?
Paladin is banned as I don't want to play Lawful Good (and I can't use mods in GeForce now).
