I have been struggling for months for an effective Paladin or Melee build for a Core run with Aeon. With the latest patch I came up with something and going to see/get some feedback on it to know what could be done better. Aeon path is the primary path/selection. My concept is Shield Bashing kit latched onto Paladin with studied target. Paladin Spells multiple attacks a round Shield bash is what I am going for with the build. Melee because I have Seelah going up as Skald (Battle Scion) 16 levels, 2 levels in Paladin, and 2 Levels in Demonslayer ranger. Also Shield basher. Both of us will be tanks. Obviously take the Pounce/Totem line and bonus to accuracy line with Skald for the party.
My build: Paladin (divine scion) 17, Slayer 3. Aasimar - Angel. Martial Disciple background for Improved Unarmed Strike. Paladin 1, Slayer 2 3, Paladin 4, Slayer 5, Rest paladin is how I want to build out. Feats will be Dodge(1), Shield Bash (3rd), Two weapon Fight (3rd), Crane Style (5), Medium Armor Focus (7), Shield Focus (9), Shield Master (11), Wings (13), Outflank (15), 17 and 19 Unknown atm. Dex 13 to get style feat from Slayer for free two weapon fighting, Con and Str at least a 16. Mythics: Mythic Armor Focus Medium for the buff to speed and using mitheral full plate, Mythic two weapon fighting feat, Greater Enduring Spells for paladin buffs to last for 24 hours, last stand, ect. Going for a heavy armor, shield bashing build that stacks a good defense using mythic armor focus, defensive fighting, and being a paladin without being a pajama tank.
Would I be better served just going 2-3 levels in paladin (divine scion) to pick up CHA to saves and immunities and then the rest in Slayer for full Studied Target bonus with Aeon instead? Gives me a full access to the shield bashing tree with Slayer instead via combat style. Is paladin spells better or worse than slayer fighting styles and abilities? Arcane Enforcer good archetype to mix with paladin? Getting Pounce from Seelah will make this work but I am tinkering with how to go about it. Also a bit all over the place on what skills to focus on, 3 ranks in mobility is a must but other knowledge skills would be nice (hence picking divine scion paladin).
Throughts? Pretty sure after typing this out everyone is going to tell me to go Slayer and be done with it. Can Slayer make a good Heavy Armored, Shield Bashing Tank?
