Weakness and Resistance
Post Body

I'm building a backup character based off the old elemental shaman from WoW. I decided to go with elementalist druid for flavor, but I've been wondering how the metamagic feats elementalist has interact with resistance in the case of conflicting types. Say I cast fireball at a fire elemental that has resistance 5 to fire damage but a weakness 5 to the cold and water trait. If I used dousing spell to add the water trait to that fireball, would the fire damage increase? Would they just cancel out? I like the idea of an elemental caster that modifies their spells go bypass resistance, mixing elements on the fly, but I'm just not sure how it works mechanically.
