[Showerthought] Taking the N out of NPC - What if ...?

Post Body

I'm sure plenty of GMs are guilty of putting in a player character of a previous campaign as an NPC in the current one. I've done it plenty of times and many times it wasn't even my own character. If you just need a well fleshed out character in a pinch, you probably can't go wrong with a character that's been with you for months or years, be it as an adventuring companion or as your own character in a long campaign.

But how about the opposite? What if we put some beloved or even hated NPCs on our own character sheet and play them as best as we can imagine them, in a potentially altered canon, that puts them in a different spot and maybe even a different time in Golarion?

Imagine Nualia signing up as a new hero in Breachill, Ameiko Kaijitsu attending the Magaambya, a young Brodert Quink delving into the depths under the Gauntlight to discover it's secrets or good ol' Sheriff Hemlock moving to Absalom to enlist with the Edgewatch!

You could even do something wild and for example put one (or more!) of the Runelords in the Circus of Wayward Wonders - how will they behave, if the circumstances couldn't be more different?

Anyway, something to ponder. Have a nice day, fellow Pathfinders!
