My Sorcerer will soon hit the levels where I can take one of the Master proficiency feats in Intimidation and I'm wondering what are the respective arguments for taking Battle Cry or Terrified Retreat first.
Reasoning for Battle Cry (https://2e.aonprd.com/Feats.aspx?ID=759)
I initially thought Battle Cry is better, because it would be a free action that can be used in most combats, however the downside is that depending on positioning and initiative order, even a success might not do that much if the enemy you're demoralizing is early on in the initiative order. On the other hand the reason why this might not appeal to casters as much as they usually are in the back lines is fortunately less relevant for my build which uses Champion dedication for Full Plate (18 Str currently) and Goblin Weapon Familiarity to wield a Horsechopper to attack, trip and use the Paladin reaction with, so my character will usually found somewhere along the front lines.
Reasoning for Terrified Retreat (https://2e.aonprd.com/Feats.aspx?ID=853)
Terrified Retreat only triggers on a crit, and only on a "mook" level enemy (has to be lower than your level) - however WHEN it does, it's very, very strong, potentially trading one action for up to six (enemy running away for one turn, then having to come back all the way in the second).
I'm very much on the fence, but the more I think about it, the more I lean towards taking Terrified Retreat first. Of course I will take the respectively other one two levels later, but two levels can be quite a few combats, so I'd like the opinions of the hivemind of what to prioritize.
