So…did the Runelord archetype just forget about Krune?

(Sorry if wrong flair) The Runelord archetype (which, importantly, can only be applied to wizards) from Secrets of Magic grants proficiency in martial polearms. This is a clear reference to the Alara’quin, the intelligent weapons created by Xin that act as the symbols of office for the Runelords. For the sake of argument, the Alara’quin are as follows: Alaznist’s Hateful Ranseur, Belimarius’s Invidious Halberd, Karzoug’s Burning Glaive, Krune’s Dragon-Tooth Spear, Sorshen’s Sinuous Guisarme, Xanderghul’s Flawless Hammer, and Zutha’s scythe.

The problem is that one of the Alara’quin isn’t a polearm: Krune’s Dragon-Tooth Spear is a longspear, which belongs to the spear weapon group. While Krune’s spear is also the only simple weapon among the Alara’quin, it’s worth noting that wizards aren’t inherently trained in simple weapons. This means that (assuming a PC-style build) Krune would have to specifically go through extra training (Weapon Proficiency feat) to be able to use his own weapon of rule, which is super counterintuitive for the Runelord of SLOTH! (To be perfectly fair, we don’t have rules for lucerne hammers, so we technically don’t know if Xanderghul’s hammer would interact with the archetype, but I think it’s a fair bet to say that lucerne hammers would be a martial polearm)

TL;DR: The Runelord of Sloth would have to work harder to use his weapon of choice if we go by RAW.
