How to read an AP volume when not actively running it

Post Body
I have a few APs in full, but I'm not currently DMing any games actively. However, I want to be able to read, enjoy them, and understand them for if/when an opportunity to run one comes up.
Problem is, obviously, they're dense and have a lot of information.
Do you have any methods to help digesting the books any easier? Do you focus on certain parts (ie chapter summaries and sidebars) while skimming through others (specific encounters/rooms)?
