Okay, putting aside the fact that this would mean someone would just be okay with hunting down sentient creatures for profit (which, y'know, poaching is a thing), there's something I never fully understood.
So, let's take the skymetal striker for a second here. It is a common creature with two heads made out of two rare materials: orichalcum and inubrix. So...how does that make sense? How does it make sense that it's easier to find a creature made out of TWO precious metals than it is to find a single chunk of ONE of those precious metals? And by that same coin, what's keeping unscrupulous people from poaching these things to basically flood the market with orichalcum and inubrix? And then, wouldn't that make those metals LESS rare?
It's just bothered me, because I know that if I sent something like that at my players, one of the first things they'd say upon defeating it is "I want to harvest that rare metal." And giving a BUNCH of orichalcum and/or inubrix just for defeating a common, level 7 creature seems like overkill.
I always felt like this was something that could be addressed in a sidebar, similar to how Paizo did the treasures extracted from golems. But it seems like I'm almost obligated to give tens of thousands of gold pieces of rare metals to my players for just...beating a common level 7 monster.
