I want to make a spell caster who climbs during battle for safety

I feel like I’m still new to this game so I want to see if there would be challenges I wouldn’t have known about by asking this. I already have some idea as to what feats I’d need to pick up or what id need to worry about but I still wanna ask because I don’t feel like I know everything.
If I was to make a climbing spell caster, what sort of challenges would I need to worry about to accomplish that? What sort of feats would I need to pick up? Ancestry?
What advice would you give to accomplish it?
