This is a change from 1e to 2e that’s always bothered me. Why is ghost touch only applied to melee weapons? From a balance standpoint, I guess I kinda get it, it's to keep ghost touch from just being a standard purchase for basically anyone. But a) it still takes up a limited slot for a property rune, and b) it’s just…so weird and inconsistent about it being melee-only.
Ghost touch rune can only be applied to melee weapons
Ghost oil can only be used on melee weapons
Ghost ammunition is, well, ammunition for a ranged weapon (and can fly through obstacles and is reusable, which is probably the reason for its high level)
Spiritsight crossbow, a ranged weapon, has the rune despite the fact that it SHOULDN’T
(The most minor of spoilers for Fists of the Ruby Phoenix) Sky-piercing bow, a ranged weapon, has the rune despite the fact that it SHOULDN’T
Ghostbane fulu applies it to both melee and ranged weapons
Pearlescent Pyramid Aeon Stone applies ghost touch to all attacks (melee and ranged)
Sunken Pistol has the effects of the rune, but based on how it’s written, it’s likely meant to be the exception rather than the rule
It just feels like it’s inconsistent about whether or not it’s SUPPOSED to be melee-only, and it’s always really bothered me. If it was consistently melee-only, then I would just amount it to a change between systems, but items like the spiritsight crossbow referring to ghost touch as if it could be applied to any weapon just irks me.
And yeah yeah, I know there will be at least one person that goes "well, if you don't like it like that then just house-rule it," but that's not my point.
