The aggressive resetting and respawning of zones in this game is bizarre, unsatisfying, and incoherent.

So there's this monster, Beira of the Rotten Pack, a witch in Clearfell. She's not only named, but has a cool dialogue line, unique powers, and when you kill her, it grays-out the skull on the Quest map and has a little story bit about how some mask/helmet thing still has power after her death. Cool.

So I killed her. But it seemed like she kept respawning. I thought maybe it was because I'd died. Fair enough -- if I die, it makes sense that things would reset, sort of a "rewind" of the world.

But, no. It literally resets it when the "instance" resets after 15 minutes, along with all the fog of war and everything else in the zone.

What a bizarre decision. They make this cool, unique mini quest/mini boss. You get a reward, it checks it off on the map. Fantastic. But then it constantly resets as if you've never killed her!? Not only is this incoherent story-wise, but it's unsatisfying. It makes the game feel too game-y and weightless. Ephemeral.

They have no convictions then. Is there a real campaign with progress? Or is it more of a slot machine experience where you just keep pulling the handle and making the numbers change, with no weight to the world and story?

Luckily this is still a beta and it can be changed before 1.0.
