You might remember from from a post here about a month ago where I was very worried about a viral short of mine ruining my channel.
So here's an update:
The viral short now has >2 million views, it dragged along 2 other shorts with it, one is 1 million and another is not far behind.
I've gained ~10k subs from shorts in a month. Total 60k now.
Currently, 89% Shorts viewers, 6% Both, 5% Videos only. I half expected this just due to the volume of shorts views, but it's very scary nonetheless. Before it was about 30/30/40.
Evergreen long form views seem unaffected - my search based videos continue to get views at the same pace as before.
All my longform videos since the viral short have underperformed. CTR and AVD are significantly below channel averages. There's only been 4 long form videos so potentially not enough data... But it's really scary when I make similar videos to before, similar title format, similar thumbnail format... and the CTR is half what I normally see.
So I've stopped posting shorts. Let me know your story!
I stopped posting shorts and made them all private because when I got subs from shorts it was obviously hurting my long form. Now I’ve seen a much more linear increase in long form views
