Can flying make symptoms worse?
Post Body

Hi,

I got COVID back in April and while I was sick I had no taste/smell, but it came back over the course of a few weeks, but limited. Some things I could barely smell, some things had different smells. Some foods taste different but most stuff didn't taste bad, just maybe not as a good or different.|

I just flew for the first time since 2019, went to the Netherlands for my first overseas trip. I don't know when the change occurred, but I noticed trying to eat just about anything over there had an awful taste. Lots of smells were different, like coffee now smells like burnt hair (a lot of things smell like burnt hair).

I thought this was a temporary thing and it felt like I was getting better but this threw me for a loop. I'm back home now, and I feel marginally better, but nowhere near where I was before I left.

I'm wondering - can flying trigger anything to make this worse? Like the high altitude pops blood vessels or something along those lines? Do you think this current setback is temporary?

I was also recently sick about a week or two prior to leaving with a minor cold, could I have had covid again maybe? It didn't feel like the last time, it was just sneezing and snot mostly.

Also I see people mentioning smell retraining, does anybody have any recommendations or should I see a doctor first?
