My mom age 72 was diagnosed with PD about a month ago. Her symptoms were tremors in one leg, starting about 4 months ago. General gait and stiffness dating back 3-4 years as far as I can recall. Two weeks ago, docs started her on 1 pill a day of Levo. Second week, she increased to 2 pills a day of Levo. This week, she is supposed to increases to 3 pills.
On 2 pills, the results have been incredible. Tremors virtually gone. Arms are moving as she walks. Walking pretty close to normal.
I write this post for two reasons:
1) We are early in this journey, so who knows that happens. But these early results have us hopeful. We know the results may not last, but we view the medicine as buying time. Science is moving rapidly, and we view the current treatment as a bridge to the next one that may even be better. As such, we encourage you to be hopeful as well.
2) I wanted to see if anyone else had a similarly good response and decided to stay at 2 pills a day instead of the standard 3. What are the pros and cons? How long does it take before she needs to increase her dosage?
Thanks for reading. Best of luck to everyone out there. Stay strong, be hopeful, and may God bless you all.
