Are ranger lodges still a thing.

Like is the idea that of a ranger patrolling or ranging and then coming home to a cabin in the woods a real thing?

Iā€™m especially interested to know if this is true for NPS, USFS, and State Parks (especially cuz Iā€™m in California).
