For younger children, let's say under 13 years old, do you get gifts, or help the children remember the other parents birthday? What about mother/fathers day, or Christmas (if you celebrate)?
I do. I usually let the kids go to a store and pick out things for their dad, not because I want to spend money on him (lord knows I dont!) But because I am trying to teach the kids to think about other people and have them do something nice.
I'll be honest, most of the times the gifts are real random, but they are so excited to share them, and tell their dad why they picked it out that I allow it. I do draw a line sometimes, like we didn't get the pink unicorn table cloth for fathers day last year, but 3 car air fresheners were absolutely alright 👌
I am not with them when they give the presents, but I do give their dad a heads up to be on the look out for bag.
Is this weird?
