My (almost 4yo) son has pretty much got the weeing part of potty training down, but he still seems to be struggling with poops, he does make it every now and then but sometimes I'll find him hiding and that seems to be his thing when he's done one in his trousers or he'll be standing next to the toilet, I stay calm and try to re-explain that they need to go in the toilet, some of the time he'll just say he doesn't know why he didn't go on the toilet, but I've noticed recently he's been saying that he just didn't make it on time, especially when I find him just standing next to the toilet, he can be quite cheeky and isn't stupid when it comes to lying!, so I don't know whether it's just an excuse he's figured out or whether there might be an underlying issue where he genuinely isn't making it on time for some reason. has anyone experienced anything like this/know what to do or how to help?!
