Parents with friends who also have kids, Or anyone in this situation I've recently been put in a rough situation where a friend continuously made bad decisions, and her, husband, and two children will be staying with us for a few weeks (hopefully). I was already babysitting the youngest of their two kids regularly 2-3 times a week. I ask nothing in return for staying with us or helping out because they are basically family and i know how hard things are right now. However, just as we had feared, my friend began taking advantage of my kindness so much so that another friend made a sideways comment about how everytime they come over to hang out it's actually to drop off the kids and get me to watch them.. fast forward to eviction day and my friend is begging me, calling me while I'm at work even to come get her kids so she can try to get her wrecked rental house cleaned up enough to get a deposit back and is too stressed to deal with the kids... Finally I tell her no, and that I wasn't driving out of the way even after work to come get them when she has people over helping her move and clean and they would literally be coming over this evening I said it as nicely as I could and really I just didn't have the gas to make a 45min drive for the second day in a row to come get them but I just felt like she should have to deal with this situation with her kids in tow so they understand the importance of not trashing another house (this is the 3rd time this has happened for them). Now I am feeling so hurt and guilty I know it was probably not the right time to try to prove a point or teach a lesson, or not my place even, but I guess what can I do to clear the water? Our kids are best friends also but she hasn't spoken to me since that day and even decided to stay in a hotel with her kids instead of coming here.. all our friends are friends with her as well, I don't want to seem like I'm talking about her behind her back or spreading her business so I don't have anywhere to really turn to about this..
