I helped potty train my boyfriendâs 3 year old son. He seemed afraid to try at first, but with a few different methods, we finally got him potty trained... or so we thought. When COVID started happening, we really buckled down and now itâs been weeks since heâs had an accident at home. However, when he goes to daycare (both his dad and I are âessential workersâ), he refuses to use the potty unless Iâm with him (and even thatâs a struggle) and so he has multiple âaccidentsâ every day. When he goes to his momâs house, he also refuses to use the potty and has more âaccidents.â To add insult to injury, his mom then sends him back in a pull up... even though he only spends a few hours at a time with his mom, I definitely donât think putting a pull up on him, which he will then use out of convenience, is helping. He has admitted to me that he wets himself on purpose while at school and his moms because he doesnât want to use the toilet there...
How can we help him?? Any ideas are appreciated.
