Hello fellow redditors. We are n need of some advice. We have never had to deal with this situation before and we’re hoping you can help things go smooth.

I (M 30) my gf (F 20). When we met almost a year ago she was about 5 months pregnant. The baby is now almost 8 months old. Her and the bio dad didn’t see eye to eye on a lot of things and stopped talking and he fell out of the picture.

She had been feeling guilty about the situation and wants the baby to be able to know the bio dad and messaged him on Facebook. He is up for for meeting and discussing things but we are not sure on where to go from here.

Obviously she is not going let him just take the baby and spend the night or anything he is basically a stranger. What does a “typical” scenario look like for this? For example visitation,day care, babysitting, child support etc....

I myself have a 12 year old who I’ve raised and am in the process of fighting for custody of but things are different with him since he is older.

Any advice or help with this would be greatly appreciated hopefully this is the right place to post this and ask for help.
