My 9 year old is growing and changing all the time, but still resists taking a shower just like he did when he was three. Today I picked him up from 2 hours of sweating in theater practice and said "I know you don't want to take a shower but I think you'll feel so fresh once you're done". He burst into tears. I try to understand him but I just still don't get why something he does so regularly is still so stressful for him.
We're not strict parents, so I don't think it's simply rebellion. If someone would tell me this phase ends soon I could easily wait it out. But my 11 year old still hates showers, too.
Wise, experienced parents of teenagers, when do kids actually start to like showering?
As sucky as it is, sometimes it takes a peer telling them they stink for them to understand and take action.

I can sort of relate to this.. a regular shower head can feel like razors on my skin if Iām feeling off. Someone with sensory issues could be deterred by it. Rainfall shower heads are soothing and produce a much more zen sound. Totally changes the vibe.
