It's weird that parents pick the name that a child will be called for their entire lives

Post Body

Just an errant thought while thinking of baby names. A name is a huge part of a person's life, (often you can know nothing about a person other than their name) it's the first thing that other people think when thinking of someone, and we have nothing to do with it.

I feel like I should really take care to name my child well because it's such a huge part of their life. I would never want someone to dislike or distrust my child because of a name. And what if my kid hates the name because of some context or reference that I don't know about? Or if they get teased?

Sorry for rambling, this just feels like such a huge decision that will have big ramifications and I wanted to discuss it. Has anyone else felt this way?
