Back when I was working night shifts, I would often stay up late in the weekends just to stay on the night time schedule. I would often gulp copious amounts of coffee and have a great time listening to music while playing video games on my comfy desk chair. Usually, around 2am I would start to feel a bit of tiredness and I would go to bed not too long around that time.
But on that evening I still felt like I could go on for a moment, so I kept doing a couple more matches. Almost an hour pass by and I am starting to feel the call of the pillow. I take another moment to enjoy the dead silence of the night before heading to bed. I set my gaming laptop to silent mode, the fans finish up cooling the system and it turns silent as they finally stop spinning. I contemplate my wallpaper and for a moment I think about life and stuff before heading to bed.
The sweet sound of silence, disturbed only by the soft crackling of my laptop's processor idling. Not a sound in the neighborhood, not even a gust of wind outside.
The silence suddenly broken by a knock behind me on the closet's door. Already on edge due to all the caffeine, my eyes dart to the clock on my PC and as I am hearing two more final knocks, the clock is displaying an eerie sight. 2h59am... Not exactly 3am but close enough to feel every hair of my body raising up and an incredibly uneasy feeling took upon me.
I couldn't believe what just happened, I was sort frozen in place for a good minute, I tried to listen to a YouTube video and shake off what just happened but after 10minutes I was still feeling absolutely spooked out so I gathered the last bit of courage and I flew straight into bed under the covers.
Nothing particularly out of the ordinary has happened into this place before, it is a pretty old building and sometimes you can hear stuff moving in other rooms but really, that event was one of kind. Nowadays when 3am is soon to arrive, I try to already be into bed at this moment 😅.
Has anyone else ever had just an odd "hello" from the other side?
