menstruation on shift?
Post Body

Hi everyone sorry if this is an awkward question.

I am starting uni doing paramedic science in september and something that is worrying me is going 12 hours a day on a period with not much access to a bathroom and being very active on a shift…MY FLOW IS HEAVY AND I GET REALLY BAD CRAMPS!!!

I’ve been looking online for like an hour and there is no posts about this so i thought i would be the first and ask.

Any advice on how you deal with it?

THANKYOU XO

edit: thank you so much for all your advice!!! there is over 100 comments and it’s hard to reply to all but i have read them all and i am very thankful you all took the time to share your experience, i feel a lot better about it now :D

I bring pads and tampons, and wear both if having a particularly heavy period. I also keep Naprogesic (Naproxen) in my bag which has been an absolute lifesaver for my cramps. I make sure I go to the toilet every chance I get, which is usually at the hospital once we’ve triaged. Haven’t had any issues yet!
