Building is hard? Help plz?

I can't build downwards from a structure. I can't connect the bottom of stairs to a foundation piece. Without the stairs touching the ground my pals won't go up the stairs. Anyone know how to make it work or we just need to wait for an update? Because I can build the floor it just won't connect to the stairs 😠My pals are away, I'm not in the way, I try jumping and rotating the pieces, try builidn from on the stairs on the side and under but nothing. Any suggestions?
