The Tolkeen War: Missed Opportunity with Nxla
Post Body

Good morning/afternoon/evening one and all

I hope I am not stepping on a minefield here, as I know how controversial the implementation and results of the Tolkeen War was (some Coalition Generals getting plot armor, magic being suddenly nerfed, the Coalition using the dumbest tactics with how the war was carried out, etc). When the War originally came out, I felt underwhelmed by the entire thing. It felt so.... contained. Where were the Juicer armies from Worldbook 10? Why didn't Dr Desmond create new and frightening ways to hunt and combat magic (Worldbook 13)? Wouldn't Death make its presence felt in any way during the war (Worldbook 4)? Or why didn't Lazlo care more about the potential danger of Xicitix swarms destroying thousands of square miles from the effects of the Tolkeen War (Worldbooks 20 and 23). The Tolkeen War was a great opportunity to lace together a lot of disparate plotthreads.

The one I want to focus on is from Worldbook 12: Psyscape. Nxla had a small army of Harvesters creating Xombies. If there was ever a critical mass of Xombies, then Nxla could cross over into Earth and begin its reign.

Imagine this.... Tolkeen is offered unlimited super soldiers that will always obey their every command. They have between 160 and 240 MDC and can do a truckload of damage before a single one is brought down. All they have to do is capture Coalition soldiers and bring them to the Harvesters.

Considering how Tolkeen seemingly allied with evil creatures, surely a small faction from Tolkeen would have jumped on this opportunity and fail to see the potential dangers. Would King Creed learn about this and try to put a stop to it? How would Psyscape respond (or could they respond to it?)? Would this be enough to force Atlantis to intervene in the war?

There was so many possibilities that were missed.....

What do you think?
