As the title suggests, I'm looking for a bit of info about how best to go about long range jumps.

Im pretty accurate at calculating the distance and timing of opening my chute, but quite a few times lately I've been beaten to the same area by somebody by close to 10 seconds. Obviously there is a better and quicker way to do it and i need a bit more practice if they can get there before me.

My steps are as follows.

Mark the area I want to land.

Work out the shortest distance with the flight path.

Jump and use the options menu to hold my speed and direction if necessary once I've opened my chute.

Adjust as needed.

On average I try not to go beyond a 2km drop because it just takes forever to get there and too many times people have pin dropped onto a car and hauled arse over there before Im anywhere near it.

What are your tips/strategies for the longer jumps?
