Latest update causing cross-platform game chat not to work?

Anyone having issues with cross-platform game chat? My friend has a PS5 and we have been playing for months with no issue. After the most recent update, his mic is not registering for cross-platform play. He can chat with other PS5 players, but not Xbox players.
Any idea if this is a feature that was disabled, or is it a patch bug?
