Howdy all,
So I’m considering PT school, and have a question that’s been floating around in my head. Curious on y’all’s thoughts.
For background, I’m 27, just finished my masters in strength and conditioning in May, and have worked in the health/performance field for over a decade. I’m familiar with lenses like PRI, FMS, SFMA, Gray institute, TPI, FRC, applied neurology, yada yada yada and all the other 3 letter acronyms that pop up constantly trying to rebrand elements of human movement.
My question is this: given my experience and less so age (not exactly dying to be jobless and in school into my mid 30’s), I’ve begun wondering if going to chiro school might be a better option given I wouldn’t have to wait 1-2 maybe even 3 years for prereq’s and application cycles (silly undergrad chem/physics that I know aren’t applicable, but that’s not an invitation to argue that). Rolling admissions for DC school are awesome, but the field doesn’t seem to be as well respected due to common quackery/biohacking.
No prereq’s, rolling admissions, and yet incredibly similar scope of practice are enticing. The main professional goal of mine is to expand my legal scope of practice and be able to apply what I love learning about, namely the human body and movement, while helping people be active. I don’t much care about the reputation of DC being bad, since I am doing/will do everything possible to be a competent and critically minded practitioner.
